Search for information in summer murder

Lexington police are still looking for the person responsible for a murder that took place in early June.

Police discovered 33 year old Stephen Kavanaugh in Elsmere Alley on the night of June 4th.

They're hoping someone will come forward with information in this crime.

On the night of June 4th police say someone shot Kavanaugh.

Det. Matt Brotherton says, "officers who were on patrol in the area of Upper Street in between 6th and 7th heard a lot of gunshots. They ran up Elsmere Alley and found a male victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds."

That victim, Stephen Kavanaugh, later died from his injuries.

Police continue to search for answers in this case and for whoever is responsible for this crime.

"At this point we're investigating this as a homicide and robbery and looking for assistance from the community."

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
