LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for a man who robbed a Lexington fast food restaurant at gunpoint Sunday morning.
Investigators believe the man is responsible for robbing the Burger King on Clays Mill Road three times this year.
The search for the gunman spilled into a nearby apartment complex where Steven Tudor lives.
"It disrupts everything. We have a lot of families and a lot of children living here. It’s kind of scary and sad," said Tudor who lives in the Autumn Park apartment complex.
Investigators tell WKYT they are looking for the man who walked into the Burger King, armed with a gun and wearing a white mask, when it opened at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Officers say he threatened the employees with the gun, forcing them to open the safe.
We're told the robber took off toward the apartments across the street after taking the money and employees’ cell phones.
"I hope it's not becoming a crime hot spot. It definitely concerns me that this much activity goes on here, especially since that same Burger King has been hit three times," said Tudor.
According to police, the fast food restaurant was also robbed in July and was robbed a third time back in March.
Investigators say the similarities between the suspect descriptions in those robberies and the most recent robbery has led them to believe the same man could be responsible for all three.
"My daughter just turned one, so I think I'll be locking the doors more and making sure my wife and daughter are safe," Tudor told WKYT.
Police say they are now trying to track the stolen cell phones to find the gunman.
"I really hope the police catch him so we can all just take a deep breath of relief and it be over with," said Turdor.
Investigators tell WKYT the gunman is about 5’4’’. They are asking anyone with information to call police.
