WKYT Crimetracker: Thief targets cars in church parking lot

Police are trying to track down the owner of a maroon van that they believe a thief is driving.

On the night of May 5th, someone broke into three cars in the parking lot of Quest Community Church on Wellington way, stealing credit cards. A man, who was seen driving the van, then used the stolen cards at several stores, including the Rite Aide on Clays Mill.

"Several thousand charged on three different victim's credit cards. Usually people who do this type of crime, this is not their first time, and only time they've broken into the vehicle," said Det. Robert Sarrantonio.

Det. Sarrantonio says thefts from cars are among the most common crimes in the area now. They're urging people to never leave valuable items in cars.
