Georgetown police searching for brazen thief


Georgetown police are searching for a brazen thief after a man walked into a business and loaded up a duffel bag full of cigarettes before getting away.

It happened early Monday morning at the CVS on Showalter Drive and South Broadway.

Police say the man walked in the store around 3:30 a.m. went directly to the cigarette counter and began loading cartons of Marlboro cigarettes.

Police say the thief left the store when confronted by a store employee but not before acting as if he had a weapon when the clerk told him to stop.

The suspect's description is a white male, short brown hair, approximately 160-170 lbs and 5'8" tall. The suspect had a shirt wrapped around his face to conceal his identity.

Police are using surveillance video from the store and a neighboring bank to try and help identify the suspect.

Police say he left the scene in a gray, passenger sedan.
