Man breaks into, robs gas station in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police were called to the Shell station at East New Circle Road near Eastland Drive by an alarm early on Monday morning, and discovered that a man had broken in and burglarized the store.

Police say that when they initally arrived, they believed it was just a case of criminal mischief, after they spotted a small hole in a front window. But when a manager got there and showed them the surveillance video, they watched a man throw an object at the door, push the glass out of its frame, and crawl under it.

Once inside, the man took a carton of cigarettes, then grabbed a hat before leaving.

Police say the man was last seen leaving the store and crossing New Circle toward the bowling alley. They're looking for a white man about 5'10 or 5'11 wearing a black tank top, red shorts, and black flip flops.
