-----PREVIOUS STORY-----

We're learning more about a woman police say stabbed her boyfriend to death at a Lexington home. Police arrested Melinda Morgan, 34, late Thursday morning and charged her with murder.

Hours earlier police say the victim was stabbed at a home on Laredo Drive. We now know it was Antonio Epps, 41, who was killed off Laredo Drive where he lives with his girlfriend and two kids. That girlfriend is now behind bars for murder.

Lexington police tell us Morgan called 911 around 5:30 a.m., wanting help because her boyfriend had been stabbed. Police say shortly after questioning her, they connected the dots and arrested her.

She's now booked in the Lexington Fayette County Detention Center where she refused an on-camera interview with us.

While looking up this couple's history today, WKYT found that no EPOs have ever been filed between them. Right now police aren't release what the motive is in this case, but say Morgan's intentions were to kill.

Dewayne Downs is a friend of the victim. He says, "He was a funny guy. He just turned 41, and I'm 43. And I've been knowing him my whole life. I just can't believe this happened."

WKYT also talked with Morgan's mother who did not want to comment but said that he was 'a bad man to her daughter.' Morgan's friends say she's a nice woman but was stuck in a bad relationship. They say they plan to stick by her side in court.

Epps had one stab wound to the chest, and Lexington police say he died before arriving at UK Hospital. An autopsy will be performed in Frankfort on Friday.

Police say the couple's two children were at the home during the stabbing. They were not hurt, and police can't say whether they are with family or child protective services.
