LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - June 11 marked the beginning of the summer crime spike in Lexington.
On that day, officials say Anthony Carter was shot on Chestnut Street in Lexington. Police said he was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Officials said not long after the shooting, police started getting statements from witnesses who saw Jefferey Morris in an argument with the victim before the shooting. They then saw him leaving the scene on a bicycle.
Friday morning, WKYT went with sheriff's deputies to his mother's home in Lexington. A man who said he was Morris' brother answered the door, but didn't cooperate much with deputies. The police report says other witnesses to the crime also told police Morris confessed to killing Carter.
If you've seen Jefferey Morris, call the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
