LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington police officer was forced to call in backup when the driver jumped out of a suspected stolen SUV and ran.
"The driver fled, ran away on foot and the officer was able to catch the suspect and bring him back to the scene. There were two other persons in the car," said Lt. Raymond Roller, with Lexington Police.
Police say the driver was Edward Hale Jr., and his passengers were Daniel Schueler and Taylor Hisgen.
All three were escorted by police to a transport truck at the corner of Ohio Street and 4th Street.
"There'll be a variety of charges on the three people in the vehicle. There was also some narcotics found in the vehicle," said Lt. Roller.
We asked police about the response to the scene, and they say anytime someone runs from a stop like this, it's always better to err on the side of caution.
"There's an officer safety issue anytime a suspect is fleeing. We don't know if they're armed or for what reasons they're running. We knew it was a stolen car, but we don't know what else was involved," Roller said.
The owner of the stolen vehicle was on scene when we arrived, and was able to drive the vehicle home.
