LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have identified a person of interest after a driver slammed into two teenagers who were on a stolen moped.

Witnesses say the driver of a Dodge Durango appeared to intentionally crash into the teenagers late Thursday night at Russell Cave Road and Loudon Avenue.

"The whole front of his car just bumped the back of that moped and you could see that poor kid go flying off that moped," said Annette Porter.

The two teenagers were rushed to UK Hospital, and police say one of them has a serious leg injury. Police say the moped's VIN shows it registered to Presley Reed.

Shortly before the crash police say Reed and two other men went to the home of one of the teens on Locust Avenue and confronted the 13-year-old's mother about getting his moped back.

"He pretty much told my mom that he was looking for him, and told him that he had stole the moped," said Brenda Garcia, the sister of one of the teens.

After that confrontation the two teens were hit. Around that same time someone fired at least four shots into the home where the 13-year-old lives.

"I started hearing the shots so I just kind of stood there and I was like 'Oh my god, what is that?' Garcia said. "Shot after shot after shot, pieces of the wall were going everywhere."

Lexington police cannot say that Reed was the one that fired the shot, and they cannot say Reed crashed into the teens. They have named him as a person of interest. Police went to Reed's home, but could not find him.

Police say in the future they may look at the possibility of charges against the teens, but right now they're more worried about them as victims.
