Richmond man charged with terroristic threatening

Richmond police have charged a man with leaving the scene of an accident and terroristic threatening. The incident occurred Monday morning on the Eastern Bypass when a motorist reported that a vehicle struck his vehicle and he was threatened with a handgun.

Police tell us that a motorist was stopped at a red light at Eastern Bypass and Porter Drive when the light turned green and did not immediately move. The driver of the car behind, James Pierson age 61, got out of his car and threatened the motorist while brandishing a handgun. Pierson then sped off and hit the car in front of him.

Officers located Pierson in a driveway on Curtis Pike and recovered the handgun from the vehicle. He was taken into custody and is in the Madison County Detention Center.
