LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - With Marines from Jonathan Price's unit watching over Posh Salon and Spa, hundreds of people lined up for haircuts and a silent auction Sunday afternoon.
"All the proceeds that come in from are going to Megan Price. We don't have a set goal, we just want to give her as much as we can," said Jennifer Jeffries.
Friends of Jonathan and Megan Price have already raised about $24,000, but they organized Sunday’s fundraiser to raise more support for the family.
Lexington police say Megan Price was shot in the leg and her husband was gunned down during a robbery outside Austin City saloon nine days ago.
We're told the couple had been married 10 months and they were celebrating her birthday.
Price’s injury is keeping her from returning to work at Posh, where she has been a stylist for three years.
"It has completely devastated us. It's been one of the hardest things I think I've ever had to go through. Even though Megan is a coworker, she is family," Jeffries said.
"It's been hard for us because she's done so much for us and we just want to give back to her and just really show her that we all love her and we all miss her right now," said coworker Alyssa Holland.
They say they realize the support can't erase the hurt but they hope it brings some good out of the tragedy.
Prince Cuts Barber Shop, which is beside Posh, also participated in the cut-a-thon.
