Several car break-ins reported in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky (WKYT) - Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office are searching for thieves who have smashed their way into parked cars.

The Franklin County Sheriff says on one recent night, six people reported their back windows shattered and some property missing.

Sheriff Pat Melton believes a hammer could have been used to do smash the windows.

The break-ins were reported in two neighborhoods. The Bentwoods subdivision was hit and so was Springhill Estates.

"With it being on the opposite sides of the county, that was a little odd,' said Sheriff Melton. "Deputies and detectives are looking. We've also stepped up patrols in those areas as well, especially on third shift to keep an eye out."

Sheriff Melton urged drivers to avoid leaving valuables in your car and to always lock the doors.
