Police: Man fired shots at alleged thief

GEORGETOWN, Ky.- (WKYT) Shots were fired near a Georgetown business after police say someone tried to steal from a man while he mowed the lawn.

It happened around 11:30 on Thursday.

A lawn care service provider was doing maintenance work for nearby businesses when he noticed someone running away from his work trailer.

The victim tried to catch up to him, but when he reached him the driver of the car pointed his hand gun at the victim as he was trying to get away.

Police say the victim fired a round into the suspect's car, which then turned onto South Broadway.

The victim does have a concealed carry permit, which allowed him to carry the gun and use it if he believed his life was in danger.

Police said the suspect was driving a white Dodge Avenger without a temporary tag or license plate.
