Tip line helps in Franklin Co. drug arrests

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Two people from central Kentucky are facing trafficking charges after a Franklin County raid Wednesday night.

It happened on the 100 block of Rock Creek Drive.

Officials say Charles Cook and Tammy Dent were caught with several types of prescription medications, and more than $10,000 in cash, and guns.

"There are several different types of medications at the home. Some of them were prescribed to the people living there. Some were not," says Deputy, Jeff Farmer.

"These people were smart enough to have them in their own prescription bottles, the way they should be. What let us to believe that they are selling them, we found their ledger books and there's notes in there noting such and such person owes this amount of money for that amount of pills," Farmer says.

Deputy Farmer says they've had reports of 20-30 cars parked outside the home-- while people were buying drugs inside.

Farmer says a tip from the "Text a Tip" hotline alerted the office -- and lead to the arrests.

"I can't tell you how many times personally things worked out for me: search warrants, arrest warrants. Different texts come through about different types of crimes and concerns. We are very fortunate that people rely on us for that," Farmer says.

The Sheriff's Office is proud of this bust, because they have these drugs, and the wrong people don't.

"It's just a terrible thing the environment and community is going through in franklin county," Farmer says.

More arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
