Winchester police warning of utility bill scam

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Winchester police have an alert about a scam, they say, they've been receiving calls about.

They say someone claiming to be from the "Kentucky Utilities disconnect line," is telling people that their checks didn't go through for their bill.

The caller tells people that have to get a green dot card, put money on it, then hand over the account information.

Police say the caller tells people not to contact the utility company.

Police say this is a scam, you should just hang up on the caller.
