Central Kentucky offers variety of Derby events

If you are not lucky enough to be attending the Oaks or the Derby, here are plenty of events around town for your entertainment.

The Locust Grove is hosting an Oaks Eve party from 7-11pm on Thursday. Tickets are $50 each and guests receive vodka and moonshine drink samples, an additional two drinks and a barbeque dinner. Throughout the night there will be a raffle featuring various, wonderful prizes. All proceeds will go to Horse Aid Live, Inc. This weekend is the grand opening of the Regal Beagle in Richmond. Regal Beagle will host a Derby Eve party from 7pm to 1am on Friday night. Tickets are $10 and guests will be treated to music by Bonepony. To purchase tickets either visit the Regal Beagle facebook page or call 859-624-8545.

The Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike will host the Frankfort-Lexington Links Derby Eve Gala on Friday from 6:30pm to 12am. This black tie affair includes dancing, music by the Unlimited Band and a silent auction. This event is held in support of various community programs throughout central Kentucky. Four Points by Sheraton is hosting a Derby Eve Party, Friday, from 8pm to 1am on. This event includes music by Swing Street, Mint Juleps, and with admission you will receive an appetizer buffet and a chance to win various door prizes. Four Points will also have a Cash Bar available and as a bonus people will receive a discount on their room that night if they choose not to drive home. Oaks Day at Keeneland is free and gates open at 9am. You can picnic or enjoy food provided by the Keeneland Paddock. If you would rather get more out of your Oaks Day at Keeneland then you can attend the second annual Martinis on the Lawn in the Clubhouse. Tickets for this event are $40 each and include live music, door prizes, a cocktail style buffet, a complementary martini and much more. Visit www.Keeneland.com for more details about each event.

Old Silo Golf and Banquet Center in Mt. Sterling, Ky will host the
Pre Derby Show & Dance Party: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER at 6:30pm Friday night. There are two options while attending this event, for $15 you can enjoy "The Ultimate Tribute to Johnny Cash" Dinner show or for $30 you can golf, watch the Oaks, have dinner and enjoy the show. After the show The Hit Men will be performing your favorite 50s, 60s and 70s rock n roll hits. Call 859-498-4697 for reservations.

Derby Day at Keeneland is the world’s biggest Derby Party. The event features over 1,000 televisions, betting, children’s activities, food and more. General Admission is $5. There is also the Second Annual Derby Bash in the Entertainment Center and Keene Barn, for these tickets please visit www.Keeneland.com.

On Sunday join the Headley-Whitney Museum for a post-Derby and Mother’s Day brunch. This event will last from 11am to 2pm and for ticket information contact Rasheedah El-Amin 859-255-6653.
