Emmy veterans beat upstarts

LOS ANGELES (AP) It was a night for the old-guard, not the upstarts. And despite all the talk that the Emmys were in the midst of a sea-change, the prevailing winds blew with the comfortable favorites. The big winners this year are "Modern Family" and "Breaking Bad" - both beating off challenges by upstart online series like "Orange Is the New Black" and "House of Cards." ABC's Modern Family captured the honors for best comedy series and "Breaking Bad" picked up best drama - along with awards for three of its stars. The Modern Family win is its fifth straight victory in the best comedy category. That ties it with "Frasier" for the most consecutive wins.
