Lollapalooza marks a decade in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) - Lollapalooza marks its 10th anniversary in Chicago when it opens for three days starting Friday with a lineup that includes Eminem, Outkast and Kings of Leon.

Festival founder and Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell calls Chicago a "beautiful showroom" for his annual event. He first brought it to the city's lakefront Grant Park in 2005. This year Lollapalooza features more than 120 bands on eight stages, and as many as 100,000 people are expected to attend each of the three days.

Lollapalooza has grown, too, over its years in Chicago, adding food tents with offerings from gourmet chefs and a children's section.

Chicago city leaders say it was a wise decision to let Lollapalooza use the park, both financially and culturally. Tourism officials attribute a $140 million economic impact on the city from last year's event.
