Trash of all kinds is all over Fishtrap Lake and park managers say it's too big of a job for them on their own.

WestCare officials brought the patients over to the lake one day for a service project, and now it's grown into a full fledged partnership for the men to give back to the community.

WestCare patient Matthew Lynch remembers coming to Fishtrap Lake almost every weekend growing up. He says he used to come there as a kid and its’ definitely went down hill.

According to Fishtrap Lake park resource manager Rodney Holbrook, their funding is tight after being on the decline for the last several years.

He says the things they're doing are things they used to do by contract, but they simply don't have the resources to do it anymore.

WestCare patient Clinton Hulsey says families want to come and they want to enjoy the lake so the cleanup definitely had to be done. He says he doesn’t think it would have gotten done if people like him hadn't got there.

Hulsey says after they were done you could definitely see a big difference.

The partnership doesn't end when the trash is gone, the men also mow the grass and do any other odd jobs around the park.

WestCare says this will continue with all of the future patients as well.
