Toddler Run Over By Truck

DRAKESBORO, Ky. (AP) - Police in western Kentucky are
investigating the death of a two-year-old girl who was run over by
her mother's pickup truck when she apparently got out of her car
seat and changed gears.
Stormie Knight was pronounced dead at the scene yesterday in
Drakesboro in Muhlenberg County.
Kentucky State Police say Kimberly Knight and her daughter had
been shopping, then stopped at their house, where the mother went
inside briefly and left the child inside the truck.
Police say the girl then apparently got out of her car seat in
the back seat, climbed into the front seat and took the truck out
of gear.
Police say the truck rolled backward down the driveway, ejected
the girl and ran over her.

I'm a friend of the family, and have been for years. I was not around when this accident had taken place, like most of you who have posted in this blog. I have read some of the hurtful comments that have been posted and frankly It makes me sick to see people so eager to judge one whom they don't even know. And yes this was a very traggic! However your hurtful comments will not change what has happened. And the truth of the matter is... not matter what you type or express we will never have our little Stormie back again..

I am the uncle of this little girl you people are so eager to opinionate about. This has been hard enough as it is without reading garbage like this from people who don't have a clue what their talking about.Just to Bring those who are quick to judge up to speed the vehicle was not running, and yes it was an extended cab.The vehicle made a sharp abrupt turn and the door came open. All of that information is irrelavant to the fact that we just lost one of our babies. How many of you have made a mistake? All of you! That is the answer to that question.Sometimes the consequences are more severe than others. It is not your place to judge. As for Joe and Sue how could you have the audacity to post something this hurtful that family members have the acess to read.Haven't we hurt enough. But I quess you and your perfect world no mistakes are made.About making KY look STUPID,its those comments you made that make KY look Stupid.Remember there is only one judge and that is God.I pray for all of you.

I am a friend of the family and I loved Stormie dearly. I want some of you on here to know that the family is going through enough as it is and for you to be judging the mother and going as far as to blame her and call her stupid, is just showing your own stupidity. First of all the truck was not running and the door was shut. Stormie was in the backseat strapped in her car seat like she always was and for the brief seconds that her mother stepped inside she undone her seat and climbed into the front seat. Everyone needs to pray for this family and stop and think more than likely at one time or another you have probably done something similar.

Let me just set the record straight, The Truck was not running at the time of the accident. No one ever expects the unexpected, you can judge me by my actions but only if you have never left your child bucked in the car seat just to drop something off in your house. I was not expecting her to get out of her car seat, I was only inside the door for a min. To Joe in Lexington how stupid can YOU be, to write such comments. YOU don't know me, I happen to have make one very big mistake, but I am not the only one in the nation to have left there child in a vehicle. To Sue in Lexington I have you know that you did not get the whole story. Did they tell you that she was a very intelligent little girl, she knew things that no 2 year old should know. If she watched you do something one time she could do it. People who know me know that I would never do anything that would hurt my children knowingly. I pray that people do not judge You for things that you have done or did not do.

I am praying for the family. Almost the same identical thing happened to me, but my car wasn't running and I was standing right beside of the car (it was some type of vehicle malfunction). This mother will never recover. The main answer to this problem is raising awareness and education. Please try not to judge this woman - most of us have been guilty of similar acts, for example, pumping gas, etc.

This mother will have to live the rest of her life knowing had she only taken a moment to take the child inside with her, that her child would be alive today. Yes, it's stupidity, but it's over and done with now. My heart goes out to that family.

Sue Read it again! Don't try to convict her I'm sure thats not your job. Are you a Mother? If so did you make a mistake or 2? Put her shoes on & walk a mile! Pray for this family.

How freakin stupid are people getting in this world especially Kentucky? You don't ever leave your child in a vehicle unattended even if it is just running into a store or your house; and to leave the car running? Some people never get it. This is not an accident; this is an act of stupidity and unfortunately a little girl dies because of it. Don't give me the crap of "what a wonderful mother she is who always cares for her kids" because I don't want to hear it. Precautions can prevent most "accidents" as people call them. Stupid, stupid, stupid; that's all it is. The senseless death of another child in KY; no wonder we are the laughing stock of the entire nation.
