Danville Names A New Police Chief

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Danville City Commission has announced the selection of Officer Jay Newell as the city's new police chief.

The 37-year-old Newell is a 12-year veteran of the department and served as assistant chief prior to moving back to patrol in 2005. He was among two finalists considered for the job that has been vacant since former Chief Jeff Peek retired in March.

Newell will be sworn in at the October eighth City Commission
meeting.
