Lexington Police Cracking Down On Wild Parties

Students living around commonwealth stadium have been warned to cut back on partying after football games. Earlier this week police went house to house delivering fliers instructing people to take all indoor furniture off the porch and keep the alcohol indoors. Saturday police put 20 extra officers in the neighborhoods to make sure people were playing by the rules. Some neighbors say this step was needed as the party after the Louisville game was a little out of control while others say you should know what you are getting into when you move into student housing.

Quit worrying about the kids partying versus receiving an education. After reading your comments, it is apparent you don't have the intelligence you probably think you have. Read your post again and highlight all the spelling and grammatical errors. You need to go back to school; I'm guessing the first time you went, all you did was party.

I agree with Ponder, Lexington has much bigger problems here than students having some fun. I do understand that students are here for a education but college age kids are going to party. Do not sit at the house and party and celebrate UK football, get in your car drunk and kill someone!!!

Chief Beatty and the Council can crack down on those unruly students and fans because they are a detriment to Lexington and themselves. Thank God! This by far takes precident over all of the illegal aliens here in town that can do as they please in Lexington. I just can't wait till Beatty comes down to UK for his new job, this should be very interesting. He will probably turn Commonwealth Stadium into a internment camp to hold the unruly fans until he and the Council/UK Admin can figure out a way to rid Kentucky of their unwanted presence! lol

If we have become so self righteous that kids can't party in college, then the terrorists have won.

I agree with Fed up, students are there to get an education not act like heathens! I agree if they are caught breaking the law and have a scholarship, take it away and give it to a more deserving student! These young people need to get a life! Life is not about partying, destroying property and the like. Life is about being responible and giving something back to your community! I'm glad the PD is cracking down. Furthermore, people have a right to buy property wherever they wish! I bet that you would not tell a minority not buy in that neighborhood or you would be sued as you should be! YOU should not act so childish and stupid! A neighborhood belong to EVERYONE living in it, not just students who are there! UK fans as a whole act stupid over a game. What would happen if they would get as excited about helping the poor, sick, and the elderly? But that would be asking too much of sports craze people! Let a child go hungry, but get those UK tickets! Shows where peoples priorities lie!

State and Elizabeth Streets have been party streets since I was in college 20 years ago. Anyone who buys a house in a neighborhood like that needs their head examined. If you don't like it, don't buy there and if you already own a house on one of these streets, stop renting to UK students. Stop the complaining.

Why don't they start cracking down on the private parties at the Radisson or the Hyatt!!!!They get out of control as well, and they usually spend more on one meal than we would spend all week! That is why, they are refined drunks and partiers, not college kids......give me a @#$%^& break!!!!! They may have gotten out of hand, but punish the ones that did,not the whole college, you self-righteous idiots..........shut up and stay in your own neighborhood....

There is nothing wrong with having a good time and celebrating. But if that is all that UK is about then let the place and the rebels go with it! Anonymous I don't need you to think for me because if you are one of them in on all this your thinking is kind of warped and I would hate for you to be handling my money, taxes, or computer! Not to smart to burn things in your drive way or be outside in public throwing bottles and cans everywhere. Have more respect for yourself and your wonderful school UK! Do you think that UK officials really think this kind of thing is alright. I doubt it... I am agree with fed up... Your there to get and education not stay friggin' drunk or wild the whole time. Think about it folks of KY some of these party animals taking it to extreme is probably in the doctorate or nursing programs...

I still don't see why partying on your porch is wrong, but you can drink and party in the stadium parking lot......aren't both public intoxication, of varying degrees? Get a grip people - if you need an excuse (i.e. a football game) to drink and party, get a life!

Give me a break!!! I bet if the students lived in houses in Andover and had bottles of wine on their porch, Lex PD wouldn't dare say a word to them about having over a bunch of friends and drinking to excess. The city of Lexington needs to stop treating the students at UK like crap because if UK stopped operating tomorrow and moved to...let's say...Versailles, half of Lexington would move there with it. UK is what made that city start growing in the first place way back when...don't forget where you came from!
