Pike County Youngster Killed In Motorcycle Crash

VARNEY, KY -- Kentucky State Police report a 12-year-old Pike County boy died yesterday afternoon following a motorcycle accident in the Pike County community of Varney.

Authorities have identified the victim as Austin Blake Allen. Reportedly he was driving a dirt bike on the Right Fork of Bushy Road in Varney.

Witnesses told the KSP that Allen hit an embankment as he was entering a yard. The collision threw him from the motorcylce and he struck a tree. The KSP says Allen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police say he died at the scene. The Pike County Coroner does not plan an autopsy. Allen was a student at John's Creek Elementary.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Community Funeral Home in Pikeville.

santerria.. im sorry bout the loss.. but yeah.. theres no since in this constant placing the blame and stuff on here.. thats about stupid if you ask me.. and any kid wants a dirt bike i know plenty that has them.. but he should have had a helment..and theres no since in using the stereo-types about Ky..or any of that about politics.. really what does politics have anything to do with a dirt bike accident??? but my prayers are with you and your family.. some of my family knows his grand-parents..

First off all the slurs about "what ifs" and throwing blame should be stopped. This child is no longer on this earth and sympathy for those who loved him and will no longer have him in their lives should be shown. This is a terrible accident that probably could have been prevented had he not be on the motorcycle at all. According to what I have read a helment would have made no difference. God Bless this family and please be with them in their time of need...... As for Jeb in KENTUCKY..... you need to get a little farther out of our fine state. I am VERY educated and am VERY offended by your post! Making comments like you did about peoples choices is not our job to do. I personally know children who RACE at the ages of 6 and 7 years. We each have our own opinions on things but this is a time for people to send prayers for this family, not to post a comment like you left on here.

a parent is not irresponsible for letting their child ride a dirt bike that is age appropiate.

I am very sorry to hear of this tragic accident. I usually do not reply to comments but most of the previous comments are pathetic! This is about a child's death! How about you all have a little sympathy for this child's friends and family instead of throwing the blame and bringing up politics. GROW UP and have a heart!
