A Scare For Passengers On Board Flight To Lexington

A Comair flight made a safe, overnight landing at Blue Grass Airport, after an indicator light came on, telling the pilots something was wrong with the plane.

The flight, en route from Atlanta to Lexington, notified the airport that the plane's equipment indicated a problem with one of the plane's flaps.

The airport then notified the fire department and Lexington police as a precaution.

Passengers on board say crew members told them the landing may not be ordinary. The plane touched down without any problems and there were no injuries reported.

I was on this flight and I want to express my thanks to pilots and Bluegrass airport for responding to this situation in a very responsible manner, addressing the safety of the passengers and crew above all else. Although it was a bit tense for a few moments, there was a feeling of security in knowing that the emergency crews were there just in case. I am sure that they must have dreaded announcing the situation knowing that it would probably cause some criticism of their company but they made sure they did all they could for the souls on that plane anyway. I for one was saying a prayer to the Lord for a safe landing and I feel that God answered prayer. I do not feel that Bluegrass airport was at fault for this incident in the least but are only guilty of responding in the very best interest of the people on that plane. I would definitely fly from Bluegrass airport again. If there is an airport at fault in this incident, I would feel that it would be more in the Atlanta vicinity.

I will never, I hope and pray, never fly in or out of Lexington again. I am scared to death of the place. So, until it is improved and bigger planes can land there, I'll travel by car if I have to. I used to fly in and out of there twice a year, but no more. Bluegrass Field says they can't expand because of the noise, etc., gee, people, what about our lives?

gee brian i guess you do need a good laugh! because i don't remember flight 5191 going down in L-ville, and the air traffic controllers being overly worked there.

Its comments like those about the "safety" of airports that make a great majority of the traveling public laughing stocks! However, if nothing else but for curiosity's sake, I would love to know how Louisville is so much more "organized and safer" than Lexington. Don't misunderstand, I am neither a proponent nor an opponent of either airport. I guess I just need a good laugh!

i agree w/karis, you could not pay me enough money to fly out of bluegrass. i flew out of l-ville, over the summer, and compared to b-grass l-ville is much more organized, and safer. i would never fly out of lex. again, i just don't feel safe.

Yeah, because it's Bluegrass Airport's fault that the planes (which is how many 1000's of miles in the air?) equipment messed up....LOL!
