Public Forum To Discuss City Dog Laws

Lexington leaders want your input later today on the city's dog ordinances.

Right now, a task force is trying to see if changes are needed in the city's leash, kennel and barking dog ordinances. It will also examine staffing levels at animal care and control.

A forum is scheduled from six to eight tonight at the Urban County Government Center on Main Street.

THE LEASH LAW ONLY NEEDS TO BE ENFORCED AS IT IS PRESENTLY WRITTEN. WHEN A CITIZEN CALLS THE POLICE DEPT. THEY SHOULD RESPOND INSTEAD OF SAYING THAT THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY COMPLAINTS TO ANSWER. IF THEY WOULD ANSWER THOSE CALLS AND ISSUE CITATIONS, THEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS WOULD DWINDLE AND SO WOULD THE PROBLEM. AS IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE DOGS THAT INCESSANTLY BARK ARE NORMALLY AT WORK AND ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THE ANIMAL THAT THEY LEAVE TIED IN THE YARD AT HOME. HOWEVER ALL OF THEIR NEIGHBORS ARE. I LIVE ON CHELAN CT. NEAR ROSEMONT GARDEN AND SOUTHLAND DRIVE AND THERE IS ALMOST NEVER A FULL HOUR PASSES WITHOUT A DOG SOMEWHERE CLOSE JUST RAISING THE DICKENS JUST BECAUSE HE OR SHE IS LEFT ALONE TO DO JUST THAT. BARK BARK BARK

My opinion I believe that if your going to take your dog out then ok put it on a leash and go, a person cannot help if their dog barks. Its a part of them.
