MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky manufacturer of
dormitory furniture will soon be out of business.
Madisonville's Krueger International plant will shut down, costing 35 employees their jobs.
A letter from plant officials to Mayor Will Cox says the plants "operation and employment levels have continued to diminish." The letter says rising transportation costs and reduced sales from the product line produced at the plant helped formulate the decision.
Company Vice President Beth Seymour says the first phase of cutbacks is expected to begin December third, with complete closure by the end of the year. She says the company is working with 30 employees to relocate them to other company facilities or to obtain assistance.
