Accused Serial Killer Pleads Guilty

Lexington's only known serial killer went before a judge today ready to admit what police have accused him of doing.

Robert Smallwood was eligible for the death penalty if a jury convicted him on a slew of charges, including two counts of rape and three counts of murder.

Police say the 33-year-old killed three different women from 1999 through 2006.

Today, Smallwood plead guilty to his crimes and a judge sentenced him to life without the possibility of parole.

Not only that but why did one get 5 counts of murder and life while the other got 1 count of murder and death. I read somewhere that the Tina Powell used the battered womens syndrome in order to avoid the death penalty while LaFonda used the battered child excuse.
