MOREHEAD, KY -- A Wheelersburg, Ohio man was killed during and an Ashland, Ky. man died following a pickup truck crash near Morehead last night. Two others in the vehicle were injured, one critcally, the other is being treated at a Morehead hospital. Police say speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
Kentucky State Police report the accident occured shortly before 8:30 Saturday evening on KY 519 five miles from Morehead.
Authorities say the pickup was traveling south when a wheel dropped off the pavement on a curve in the road. The operator of the vehicle apparently over-corrected, the vehicle crossed the center line, overturned over an embankment, rolled-over at least once and ended up in a field off the eastbound lane of the highway. All four were thrown from the vehicle. Police say it is unclear as to who was driving.
The report says Ronald Tackett of Wheelersburg, Ohio was declared dead at the scene by Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt. Morley Evans of Ashland, Ky. was being airlifted to U. K. Medical Center but died in flight.
Ronald Click of Norwood, Ohio was airlifted to U. K. Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition early Sunday morning. Later in the day a hospital spokesperson said Click's condition had been upgraded to Fair.
Paul Lamb of Norwood, Ohio was transported to St. Clair Medical Center in Morehead where he was admitted for non life-threatening injures.
The incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Toby Gardner.
