Federal Mediator Called To Help With Nurses' Strike

A federal mediator is now involved in a nursing strike.

The mediator is working to resolve a dispute between the Kentucky and West Virginia Nurses Associations and Appalachian Regional Healthcare.

The nurses rejected a final new contract last week over what they claim to be poor staffing issues. An ARH spokesperson says about 130 workers refused to strike.

While these people fight over money--and someone dies because of this--is that MURDER?

Thw whole hospital chain serving Appalachia is simply atrocious. Once these "new American" doctors get you into their clutches, you will truly suffer. They only refer patients to other "new American" ig you have the ability to pay for all of their excessive testing, and offer very poor substandard healthcare in the process. Meanwhile, the poor nurses are overworked and underpaid. Also, the housekeeping(at least in Hazard ARH) is awful. My mother was in Hazard ARH not too long ago, and the floor was dirty in her room when she was admitted, and three days later it had never been mopped. I used to work for ARH, and I can tell you that they have PLEMTY of high paid administrators, while the people doing the real work are undercompensated. Why can't we have some native born doctors? These "new Americans" mostly think of us as infidel dogs. I for one am sick to the gills of ARH and their policies. It is no wonder so many local people go to Lexington or elsewhere to get care.
