Voter Registration Deadline; Mock Election Results

Tuesday's the last day to register, if you want to be able to vote in this November's election. You can contact your local county clerk's office with any questions you have about registering.

One of the most-watched races is the race for governor between Steve Beshear and incumbent Ernie Fletcher.

A statewide college mock election shows if the election were now, students would elect a new governor. The secretary of state's office conducted the elections at six universities and colleges across the state.

It showed Steve Beshear taking 52% of the vote to Ernie Fletcher's 48%.

Fletcher won the vote at the University of Kentucky and Northern Kentucky University. Beshear took the other college campuses.

D from fkt: what do you mean "all stay at home moms have too much time on their hands"? Obviously you know nothing about most stay at home moms. I am one, not by choice, but by necessity. I have two children in school and an invalid father. My mother died from cancer last year. I have never had free time to waste!! I even tried to go back to work last fall, but my father was unable to cope. I had to quit. So let's don't judge something we know nothing about, huh??? On another note, I agree with most posters. I am sick of deadbeats living better, especially better than my WWII vet father. After all he did for his country, now he is treated like an outcast, paying outrageous amounts for healthcare and medicines he needs while others are living "high on the hog" without a care in the world, no responsibility, nothing! Where is the justice in that? When an 85 year old World War II vet has to worrying about paying for medicine and "others" driving brand new cars, etc....Something is wrong!!

Note to Spike Lee - first, turn off your caps lock. Secondly, you are not MLK Jr. so quit trying to talk like the great savior. Note to c from Frankfort - I'll go one better; forget the debit card and give them NOTHING if they are able bodied and can work. Some people refuse to work because they feel they are better than the wage being offered. I say, if you don't want that, you surely aren't getting my tax dollars. I'm tired of deadbeats. I work part time in a grocery store to make ends meet and pay for my kid's college. I see more deadbeats on welfare than you can shake a stick at, but...they drive nice cars, all have cell phones and have the best stereo system in that car. They buy better cuts of meat than I can afford. I can't remember the last time I bought steak and shrimp at the same time, but they always do. I agree all politicians are liars but if you vote Democrat, kiss more tax dollars goodbye for social programs for the deadbeats.

Amen "C from Frankfort" now that is the truth if anyone ever said it... I work every day and make sure all my bills are paid but never seems to be enough to really buy groceries or anything with... I tried to get help and was told I made too much... Well if I was getting my Gross instead of Net I wouldn't be asking for the help! Politicians...! Makes you want to bring burning back to the stake cause they all seem to be warlocks an witches! And not the good ones either! I say take these welfare daring people and put them to work... If they don't hold a job they don't get any benefits! It is ok to need help on occassion or to need extra help even if you are working at a low paying job at least your out there trying unlike the ones that were raised on welfare alone and think it is a way of life instead of assistance to help them get a better way of life!

ALL politicans are LAIRS and none of them can be trusted! None of them are for the working class! Those who refuse to work get help, but the working families who struggle get nothing but higher taxes and are actually penalized for being married, having children, and working! We carry the load on our backs! I think the elderly, the TRULY disabled, and children deserve help, but I do not think those adults who draw welfare on their children deserve anyhing! Start giving them debit cards and no cash, so that they cannot waste those funds on drugs, alcohol, and non essential items while their children do without! Stop giving them more $ for having more children! Make them work without taking their benefits for a little while! That way they will get off welfare entirely! Working people need help too!Prices go up, but salaries do not! If you get a raise, then ins. comes up! Stop basis everything on gross income, we don't get it all and cannot help what is taken out BEFORE we get our checks!
