Teenager Recovering After High Speed Chase

More Video...

A teenager is recovering at UK Hospital after police say he led them on high speed chase through two counties which ended in a violent crash.

Police in Mercer County say they tried to pull over 16-year-old Joey Taylor, wanted for parole violation. Police say when they tried to pull him over, Taylor tried to ram a police cruiser then took off.

The chase reached speeds of more than 110 mph as Taylor led police into Garrard County. During the course of the chase, he lost control and crashed along U.S. 27 near Lancaster.

Taylor was thrown from the vehicle and sustained some serious injuries. He was then airlifted from the scene.

Taylor is still recovering from injuries, listed in stable condition at the UK Medical Center.

He is facing several felony charges in both Mercer and Garrard counties.

basically, no one except the people the really know him know the whole story. yes, joey made a bad decision, like everyone does in their lives. and yes, i do think he should be disciplined. but at least dont judge him before you know him. hes an extremely sweet young man who had a troubled life. that gives him no excuse to do what he did but forreal. dont go and say he deserved it or hes stupid. yes, he made a poor decision and im not standing up for him on that. all im saying is at least dont judge him for who he is. joey hadnt even violated parole. it was his mother who said he had, his mother who doesnt exactly care about him. and he was on parole for a very stupid thing in the first place. hes made mistakes in his life but joey is an amazing friend and growing up with him has been a blessing. i love him with all my heart, and hope he learns something from this, as do i hope you all do too. joey is getting charged, and he learned a lesson. so leave it alone. love you joey! =] tons.

You people have no clue who you're talking about. Joey was one of my friends, he didn't have that great of a life, and you know what? He WAS a great kid. Yes, he screwed up and did something wrong, but he's going to face charges. Saying things like 'he deserved it' doesn't say much for your character. You didn't even know this kid!

Why don't all of you stupid "grown ups" grow up???? Joey is a really good guy, believe it or not. Jeb, you are probably a stupid little nine year old boy so shut your freakin' mouth. I know what Joey did was wrong, but the police were being stupid too. If they hadn't gone after him like that like a bunch of retards, the high speed chase would not have happened!!! And as for you, Cindy, why don't you take your own advice and grow up?????

Bottom line he broke the law, he should have stopped. Running from the law in some countries is handled very quickly, they shoot first and ask questions later, they don’t have many high speed chases as they (the criminals) know they will be shot for that crap. And for the ones, who say we should not chase him, well ponder on this. If we had not chased him and tomorrow he robs a convenience store and shoots and kills the clerk who happens to be your sister or son and then what would you say, why did the cops not get him when they had a chance. And to the ones who say his actions are not stupid, well that’s just preposterous to make that statement. How many lives did he put in danger for his little joyride? Yes I was 16 and yes I made mistakes like we all do, but this is not a mistake, this is a total disrespect for lives and he should be treated as an adult and punished like one as he has acted like an irresponsible person in society. He is not an angel so he shouldn't be treated as one.

Well, Bill, it was a parole violation for gods sake- its not like they were chasing him from a crime. They could have picked him up at his home later. If your family is whiped out in a useless chase I hope the cops hit them so we can test your theory about how you wouldnt be upset with them. Just for your information haft is a handle or hilt - its not used appropriately in that sentence. Sorry.

Here we go again. It wasn't this little angels fault,it was the police. He never did anything wrong,he was innocent...That is all crap!!!He has been in trouble before and they were doing their jobs!!!!He broke the law when he ran from them!!!If he would have stopped like any other law abiding citizen,he wouldn't have had the wreck!!!Take some responsibility for your actions!!!!HE BROKE THE LAW PEOPLE!!!

Cindy you are so smart what should they(police)do? I would love to hear your suggestions. Maybe they should call him on the phone and say hey come on in to be arrested. Or just say you know what, let this go he is just 16; poor baby. If the police hit someone in my family while chaseing someone I would be sad and angery at the person they are chaseing. If the people like you get their way I will began to be a criminal because all I would haft to do is walk away and I would never be arrested. What a great world that would be without laws. I'm sure YOU would be the first person to be mad at everybody else!
