Alcohol Plays Role In Deadly ATV Crash

An all-terrain vehicle crash last night in eastern Kentucky took the life of a Lawrenceburg, Indiana man and left his wife injured.

Wolfe County Coroner Frank Porter says 39-year-old Rion Best died at the scene when his ATV crashed into a tree on Little Bloody Creek Road. His wife, 38-year-old Lisa Best was a passenger on the vehicle. She's being treated at the UK Medical Center and is reported "stable."

State police say alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. Helmets were not being used.

The site of the crash was near the Wolfe-Breathitt County line. Campton is 54 miles east-southeast of Lexington.

he didn't die of injuries to his head - a helmet can't protect your other internal organs and prevent you from bleeding to death internally.

Jeb's right; how many times do we have to hear about these kind of "accidents" until somebody wises up. Alcohol, no helmets and an ATV (as Jeb put it) is right; a deadly combination. What don't you people get? How stupid is it to do that. If people quit acting stupid and freakin invincible, these things would not happen. Stuff like this is PREVENTABLE!! What do you mean don't judge what you don't know? What else is there to know besides stupidity on their part. I give up; you ATV, NO HELMET WEARING REDNECKS are impossible to get through to. Go ahead and keep killing yourselves. If you don't heed the warnings and see how many times this has happened before; then you deserve what you get.

And I am sure, Jeb, that you have never in your entire life done anything stupid. Get a grip! A man is dead. The people who loved him will hurt and grieve regardless of the intellegence of his actions.

Stupid people doing stupid things; no sympathy from me. Alcohol, no helmets and an ATV; a deadly combination.
