We have new information on some health concerns about of the wildcat basketball players. Patrick Patterson is the McDonald's All American out of Huntington.

Sources tell us he did not practice Monday and an Internet report on Central Kentucky Sports says that Patterson was spotted at UK Hospital with coach Billy Gillispie.

UK officials tell us Patterson is suffering from a upper respiratory infection and is undergoing treatment for that.

Coming out of Huntington High, the 6'9" Patterson was rated the number two power forward in the nation by rivals.com and he's a key part of Billy Gillispie's plans for this season and the future.

I had an upper respiratory infection when I was in high school and I can tell you that is rough stuff. I was in bed and missed like a week of school. I hope Patterson has a swift recovery. How many UK players does this make with medical issues? Not looking too good.

I hope he is okay. He seems like a terrific kid, and his parents seem like good people as well. Basketball or not, I wish them all well-they deserve it!

FROM WHAT I GATHER, IT'S JUST AN UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION AND HE'LL BE FINE. SOME RUMORS WERE FLYING ABOUT HIM HAVING HEART SURGERY AND EVERYTHING. THEY GOT CROSSED UP WITH PAT PATTERSON (PRO WRESTLER). DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME GUY.
