ARH And Striking Nurses Still In Talks

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Appalachian Regional Healthcare management and striking nurses from West Virginia and Kentucky are still talking.

As of Monday night, neither side released any information and were still talking with a federal mediator in Lexington, Ky.

The West Virginia Nurses Association says it will try one more time to come to a resolution.

ARH officials say they've not received a counter offer from the nearly 600 West Virginia and Kentucky nurses, who voted down the company's contract offer September 27th.

Nurses then went on strike at nine ARH operations September 30th.

Nurses maintain the strike isn't over money. Rather, they say
it's about mandatory overtime and patient care.

Amen Sarah, These nurses are some of the worse that I have ever seen, all they care about is money. Yes I know they want a lower patient ratio, but the only reason for this is so they can sit on the butts and not work as hard. Hard work was back when the nurses would have 10-12 patients and yes I worked in those times and we got everything done. This world has gone to rely on not working and why these people waste their time and probably the government's money to go to school to be something they are too lazy to do is something I cannot comprehend. Nursing is a hard job, but not as hard if you actually do your work and not hide from it.

I thought nurses where professionals. I have never seen a group of individuals act in such an unprofessional manner. You should all be ahamed of yourselves and have your nursing liscences revoked. You don't care about your patients or your community or you would have never walked out. The true professionals are the nurses sho are inside actually caring for the patients. You are an embarrassment to the body of nursing in which you represent. Get another job in a different line of work. I would never want to be under the care of any of the lunitics out on that picket line!!!!Shame on you and may God Bless those who truly care!
