UK Safety Alert Issued Today

A safety alert today on the UK campus after a violent mugging.

A male student told police he was walking along University Drive around two o'clock this morning when he was robbed.

The student says three men standing near the Complex Drive intersection hit him in the head and knocked him to the ground.

The suspects took his wallet and cell phone.

UK Police say if you have to be out on campus at night, you can request an escort by calling "SafeCats" at 323-FREE or by calling UK Police.

This wasn't deserving of a campus safety alert. This is an isolated incident, not a rash of crimes. If you cry wolf every time something happens, no one will pay attention anymore

I really wished UK would read the Minger Act. This should not be a safety alert unless there is an established pattern or reason to believe it will continue happening. A one-time isolated incident doesn't qualify for a campus-wide safety alert. They're going to issue so many of these that students don't pay attention to them anymore and real problems will happen in a true crime spree or dangerous situation.

What ever happend to somebody packing a pocket knife, or mace? It seems like every time this happens the victim never attempted to retaliate! Have yourself prepared, when you feel threatened, show in no uncertain terms you are ready to defend yourself, seems like everybody except for the military in this couontry cowers ina corner when a low life bothers you. Stand up for yourself!

What a joke, the safety alert wasn't issued until 9:52 a.m. A little late in my opinion. If you want people on campus to take this seriously you are goinng to have to do better than this.
