Homeowner and Burglars Get Into Gun Battle

Shots rang out during a home invasion in Jessamine County on Wednesday morning as the homeowner confronted three men.

The homeowner, who lives off of KY 169 near the Keene community, says he was watching TV when he heard a noise upstairs.

He says when he went to investigate, he saw two men ransacking his house. He told them he had a gun and they ran out of the home.

The homeowner says he grabbed his gun and fired a warning shot into the ground, but one of the burglars turned and shot back at him. The man says the burglar used a gun he stole from the home.

After a few minutes of exchanging gunfire, the suspects hopped in a car and drove away.

Police are looking for three men in an older model black Oldsmobile. The car had a busted out window, covered in plastic and may have some bullet holes in it after the gun battle.

Police say they're following up on several leads, but so far there have been no arrests.

Hey Mel, you sound like a Hillary loving anti- gun nut. Gun control takes guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, not the scum with criminal intent. Gun control causes tragedies like Virginia Tech. The second amendment is not negotiable and if you dont like the Bill of Rights, MOVE TO CHINA! We dont need anymore "citizens" bad mouthing our civil liberties so our criminal government can keep taking them. No more mercy to criminals and tyrants! RON PAUL FOR PRESEDENT 2008

Sounds awful fishy to me down stairs watching tv shots fired against three men and noone hit noone sounds set up to me just to get insurance money. you know and everyone knows that would be kind of stupid to go up against three men. How easy could the three men take down the one guy. Come on think about it INSURANCE MONEY or NOT.

You people amaze mw....this story sounds fishy????Smells like the good guy actually won!!!If more people would do that, these idiots trying to take what doesn't belong to them would all either be killed off or too scared to try anything.I wish he would have hit one of them!!Like I said earlier..catch them, hang them, and watch it dramatically decrease!!!

If the homeowner had not had a gun, he would have probably called the cops and there wouldn't have been gunfire exchanged between two gunmen who apparently can't hit the side of a barn since they missed each other repeatedly in this "shoot out". Luckily there weren't any stray people in the area who were hit. I think the story smells bad, too, Paul, and I just can't make a hero out of an idiot who chases people outside firing a gun in the ground, in the air, wherever. He's lucky they missed when they shot back. More will come from this story.

What do you think would have happened if the bleeding heart liberals had their way? The homeowner would NOT have had a gun. Good for the homeowner!!! I applaud you!. I would like to see the day that EVERY hoomeowner had a weapon. Then just the thought of being confronted with a weapon home invasions may go down!!!

Good for this homeowner! I agree with many of the comments here: We have to take back our homes and property from these lowlives! Just make sure that when you kill them they are on your property, so some stupid lawyer doesn't come and sue you for shooting the idiot! Criminals have far too many rights these days and it is time for the rest of us to just start standing up for what belongs to us and killing a few of them in the process!

I'm really glad no one was hurt, but somethings a little fishy. Who fires warning shots into the ground? Why if the robbers were fleeing would you shoot? Outside of the home, the homeowner could have been charged with assault or murder had he actually hit someone.. There's more to this story folks. Good call Gil

Gil,the story nowhere says he went looking for his.Come to my house and steal a gun,I will have many more to make sure you don't ever steal again. We have got to take our homes back from all these thugs. The more that would hang from the courthouse, the less this crap would be happening.
