Gas Prices Increase; Find The Cheapest Gas

It's gone up again!

The price for a gallon of gas started in the $2.70's this week, and has now passed the three dollar mark.

This is the first time since July 17th that gas prices here in Lexington have gone over the three dollar mark.

As for the reason behind the price increase, oil prices surged to a record high today, going for $96/a barrel.

That increase came on the heels of the Federal Reserve's decision to lower interest rates.

The price for a barrel of oil has more than quadrupled since 2002.

DEMOCRATS ALL THE WAY!!!!!! Let's finally look out for the poor people. Even the Republicans can't keep up with these expensive prices. The great Depression will return.

David from Georgetown...question...who do you think sets the salary of the president of Exxon? The board of directors...who must answer to its' shareholders. The shareholders can vote in or out the board members if they think they are doing a poor job. Also to think that any politician doesn't care about what is going on is incorrect. Even if they are a lame duck, do you think they would want to give the opposition an edge for the next round of elections? This country isn't in a mess...it is the greatest country on earth. I am proud to live and work here. I don't get everything I want, but I am willing to work for what I get. He who listens to the "spin doctors" gets spun.

Mel,I believe this is the first time I have ever totally agreed with you...lol...but,can we blame Bush for everything?Go back to the Clinton era and the NAFTA treaty. We started going bad then and there and it hasn't got any better.Maybe if we would help our own instead of every other nation we would get a little ahead! How about doing for the American people instead of sending all that money to all the other countries. We didn't form this country to make sure everyone else had the same life, this country was formed by our forefathers to make it a land of liberty and justice, and that is going fast.Gas is a commodity,if they raised the price of electric, water,or any other commodity, the government would step in and make them lower prices....what is the difference.I drive 1 1/2 hours to work.....you know where my paycheck goes...out of the tailpipe....

Mel...this is a good forum for anyone to express their beliefs. It is the "belief" that must be changed. Unfortunately we live in a time where we seek to lay blame for our shortcomings elsewhere. We read a politically slanted column and believe it hook line and sinker! If you knew me personally, you would KNOW that I am not an overbearing know-it-all. But I get so tired of people whining. If you want something changed...work toward a change...but look inward FIRST. Don't expect a politician to give you something for nothing. There is ALWAYS a day of reckoning.

The rich get richer-check out how much the head of Exxon made 1,2, even 5 years ago and compare it to what he makes now, I bet it isn't a decrease. It's ironic that during a hotly debated Congressional election in 06 that gas prices "mysteriously" drop to try to sway people in their vote. This year is not an election year, demand is up a whopping .2 percent, refined gas inventories actually INCREASED last week by 1.3 million barrels, and we are paying almost a buck a gallon more. Bush can easliy release oil from the oil reserve, just like Clinton did, to soften the prices a little. He is a lame duck and does not care about the people he governs, just his friends, therefore nothing will be done. It is also stated that refiners are running at 86% right now. If I only performed 86% of my job duties, I would be fired. Less efficiency means higher prices, just what big oil wants. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is really going on here.

AMEN, mel from lex..I agree with you. A lot of posters have "superiority" complexes or whatever you want to call it...Remember, this is an OPINION post and everyone has the right to express theirs whether a select few like it or not. Now here is mine: This country is in a mess and is going downhill fast...I do think a lot of "higher ups" are benefiting from these gas prices. Common sense will tell you that...when it is 2.50 a gallon and people think that is cheap...well, something is wrong here. So WHY is oil going up? I doubt there is a shortage, so what is REALLY going on?

This whole country is in a mess, thousands of young men dying, gas prices skyrocketing, no health care available, housing sales plummeting, home foreclosures at an all-time high. I won't give Mr. Bush all the credit for our problems, but I will definitely hand the trophey to his administration as a whole. That is MY opinion, and it's better to let everyone think you're an overbearing know it all who doesn't respect other peoples' opinions than to start typing and remove all doubt. Do you honestly think David and the other posters here can't express their opinions without being called idiots and greedy?

Let me see...we can't drill for oil in or around our own country (China will be though..they contracted with Cuba to do offshore drilling near Florida). We can't build nuke plants to generate our electricity. We don't want to burn coal because it is too dirty. So I guess we just continue to buy more oil from our friends in the Kingdom and Fatty Chavez.

WOW ~~~ I take back what I sent about David in Georgetown. I send it to ALL of you. "and the rich get richer"? Who do you think Exxon/Mobil is? If any of you have a 401k ~ you will probably be the intended target. They are owned by "shareholders". If you want to call anyone greedy ~ look in the mirror first!!
