Attempted Child Abduction Near Lexington School

An attempted child abduction in Lexington this morning.

We're told a man tried to grab a 13-year-old girl, as she walked to Lexington Traditional Magnet School, along Glass Alley.

Police say the man grabbed her by both arms, but she fought back, and was able to get away.

Authorities say the man is described as an African-American male, about 5 foot 11 inches tall, in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The Lexington Police Department have increased patrols in the area.

Thank God this girl is safe! Good for her for fighing back! More children need to learn martial arts these days just to protect themselves from all these sickos! I have a 6 and 4 yr old and I'm teaching them how to protect themselves! Parents have to teach their children how to protect themselves! Children play in the streets here as young as 3 yrs old without adult supervision. It's just a miracle that none of these children have been hit by a car or kidnapped by some sicko. I don't allow my children in the streets to play at anytime because they are not a safe place to play. With things the way they are, I don't think it's safe to let children even walk to school! I hope they catch this guy before he suceeds in taking a child, the next child may not be able to get away from him! Parents watch your children because you don't know who else maybe watching them too!
