Car Washes Included In Stanford Water Ban

In Lincoln County, city leaders in Stanford are taking action to conserve water.

City leaders say their water situation is an "emergency."

They've passed a mandatory water alert on all non-essential water use. Late last night, they passed an ordinance that includes commercial car washes in the ban.

The owners of two Stanford car washes call the move unfair, and say they have bills to pay.

Water officials say they would be irresponsible if they do not take action to conserve water.

Good Deal!!!! No one in Stanford can wash cars at their residence without breaking the law so we all have to travel to the local car wash to comply thus creating a large increase in revenue for these businesses and they were getting rich off of the crisis and someone thought that was ok, they accepted the inherent risk when they opened this type of business, they should have been the first to go as soon as homeowners were restricted.

Did they not get part of the 6 inches of rain that everyone else around them got last week? How can it just now be getting bad, after so much rain? This confuses me.

That’s an inherent risk they took when they opened that type of business and when a water ban is underway they should be the first to close. I think the board made an excellent choice here. I know the owners of the car wash do not agree but with all business ventures you have to assume the risk of Mother Nature as well as other factors when you open this type. How would it make sense that I could not wash my car at my house but I could pay for it down the street and someone making a buck on out despair as we have no where else to wash our vehicles.
