Eastern Ky. Man Sentenced To Prison For Killing Road Worker

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A northern Kentucky man was sentenced to five years in prison for running down a road construction worker who was waving motorists around a work site.

Boyd Circuit Judge C. David Hagerman sentenced 37-year-old Larry A. Cole of Ashland to an additional two-and-a-half years for four counts of prescription fraud.

Cole pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and prescription fraud. He was charged with hitting and killing 36-year-old Georgia Reffitt of Inez as she directed traffic on Kentucky Five in Boyd County on June 26th, 2006.

Reffitt was working for Mountain Construction when a car driven by Cole swerved to avoid hitting another car and struck her.
