Beshear Announces Appointees

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Democratic Party Chairman Jonathan Miller will serve as secretary of the Finance and Administration Cabinet in Governor-elect Steve Beshear's administration.

Miller, who also currently serves as state treasurer, was one of four appointees Beshear announced Friday at a press conference in Frankfort.

Mary Lassiter will serve as Beshear's budget director. Lassiter is a longtime employee of the state budget office.

Phil Osborne will serve as chief communications officer. Osborne is the owner and chief executive officer of Preston Osborne Public Relations.

Vicki Glass, who served as Beshear's spokeswoman during the campaign, will become deputy communications officer and spokeswoman for the administration.

    I hope he doesn't waste any time appointing a new KSP Commissioner so they can attempt to restore some diginity to the agency.
