Archbishop Attends Louisville Abortion Protest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville's archbishop clutched a rosary as he prayed in front of a downtown abortion clinic.

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz joined about 250 people in a prayer vigil Saturday.

It was his first appearance there. Kurtz took over as archbishop in August

Demonstrators regularly gather outside the clinic on Saturday mornings.

Another priest, the Reverend Peter West, attended the demonstration. He says it's important that the church show leadership in its fight to end abortion. The early morning vigil was mostly peaceful.

I agree that people have the right to protest things but they are out of control there. Its pretty bad when you have to have escorts lead you into the building because these people won't get out of the way and let the patients get in. Also, they grab you and scream in your face and tell you how awful a person you are. Everyone has different situations and they don't know what they are. Everyone has their own reasons for doing things and its a very hard thing to do. The protesters that just stand there and pray, they are fine but the ones that scream and grab you really should be removed. Its ridiculous, also a lot of the people out there protesting have been patients in that clinic.
