About 40 Letcher County students are home safe after an accident involving two school buses Monday afternoon.

It happened on Kentucky 7 in the community of Letcher.

Some neighbors who live near the accident scene say it's an all too familiar a dangerous intersection.

Flashing police lights and traffic back-ups are not uncommon for some who live at the intersection of Kentucky 7, Church Hill and Crase's Branch in Letcher.

Amy Asher says she's seen several accidents in this spot during the past 30 years.

No one was hurt when one Letcher County school bus full of students hit the side of another bus as its driver tried to turn onto Crase's Branch.

But neighbors worry the next accident might not turn out as well.

Asher says she knows she has to be extra careful to avoid being part of an accident like this one, but she says drivers unfamiliar with the intersection are at greater risk.

Police say they do see accidents more frequently near sharp turns and curves along Kentucky 7 and all drivers should slow down to avoid an accident.
