House Speaker Creates Gambling Panel

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - House Speaker Jody Richards has set up a legislative panel to further study issues regarding the legalization of casino gambling in Kentucky.

Richards, who announced the panel's lineup on Thursday, tapped Republican and Democratic lawamkers to look at the issue.

"The 2007 gubernatorial election focused on allowing voters to decide the issue of expanded gaming," Richards said in a press release. "It is judicious for us to begin gathering as much information as possible on the subject, including studying how other states have approached the issue."

Gov.-elect Steve Beshear has said he intends to push the proposal through the General Assembly's upcoming session that starts in January.

Richards said the panel would start its work after Thanksgiving.

The 15-member panel includes 12 Democrats and three Republicans.

Just what we need . Another way for the poor to think they can get rich quick, while taking money from their children.

I wish the new govenor would reconsider what he's doing with this casino gambling. And If he really wants it he should have these casino's in his nieghborhood not in communities where they are not wanted!!!!
