Former Coach Arrested On Sexual Abuse Charges

Nicholasville Police say it was the last thing they expected to find in the city's park this morning.

They arrested a 45-year-old man, after finding him physically involved with a minor, inside a parked vehicle.

Police say they discovered Linville Cox in a car with a 14-year-old girl at City County Park this morning.

Cox is a former assistant coach with the Jessamine County Youth Softball League.

Investigators say that's how he met the girl.

Cox is charged with three counts of third degree sexual abuse and one count of third degree sodomy.

He is being held at the Jessamine County Detention Center.

it's weird reading this because, he used to be one of my softball coaches and i was really good friends with his daughter. i never knew he would do soemthing like this. he was really nice and a great coach but i guess he was just in it for something else. hmm, whatta shame. never thought this would happen. i porbably played on the same team with the girl too.

So many of the comments posted are appalling & vicious. #1-a 45yr old man that befriends & takes advantage of any child under age, deserves to be incarcerated & never see the light of day again. It's nauseating to read the discriminatory statements made about this child from ignorance (Leigh-you really don't know your facts/& especially Dan) because of gossip running rabid. This child is a "victim !" It is "not" her fault ! How many others may have been victims by Cox's monstrous actions? They could always remain silent because of the pre-judgement & ridicule lashing towards them & their families. Do not stereotype great decent children because of their age. Not all young teens act & dress beyond their years. This child needs all the love & support that family & friends can give her now & forever. As for Cox, he deserves a daily lobotomy for the rest of his disgusting life !

This is the most disgusting thing i've ever heard of..i do hope the mans wife is getting some counseling for those poor children of his and herself. he was old enough to know better and wether or not the 14 year old knew better or not-he should have--and this is just WRONG! counseling would benefit the victim as well, lets just pray our judicial system handles this properly and gives him the maximum sentence!!

I consider myself a hobbyist. I'm going to tell you guys... This isn't a good hobby for ol' Linville to take up. It's unhealthy for a man his age. Besides that girl was too young for him to step into her "Hobby-Zone" If you catch my drift. I understand that she was trying to get a little extra "ball practice" in; but thats unnecessary. This is some hogwash... It sickens me.

Does anyone know anything new about this case? When does he go before the judge? When did all of this start with the young lady? The rumor mill says that it had been going on for several years, but is that true? Thanks

What’s safe for our kids to do anymore? They can’t play youth sports, go to church, or even get online; without a child molester lurking around the corner. The only way to stop this is harsh punishment such as life in prison for all of them. There is no cure for someone who could do such hurtful things to innocent people. It’s too bad he will go to court probably get probated and be out doing it again to someone else.

i think the cops new about the whole thing all along. then the guy did something that made them mad and the arrested him for it. just because a cop in jessamine county actually doing anything other than lying on inocent people is very unherd of.

Hey Disgusted Parent...I had to re-read everything I had written because there was NO intent to defend anyone. I have no idea where you are coming from..let me be a little more clear for you so there can be no question...I am in no way form or fashion defending the man in this case. He fully deserves what is coming to him. But the girl and her family should bear some responsibility and thus the relevant consequences. Is that clear enough for you?

Just thinking - if the girls spent the night together the morning before Cox was caught, was it at his house or the other girl's house? How did his daughter get to school and why didn't the other girl get to school? Keeps getting wierder and wierder! As for the family that Cox has left behind, let's all pray for them. They don't need to have all the bad attention that we all know they are going to get. Investigations by social workers, police, and everybody "legal" that they can throw into the picture to drag up dirt on any of them. Pray for the wife (who is a cancer survivor, praise God) that she can see her way through all the turmoil that is about to come her way. Pray for the son and daughter that in any way deserve this. They are precious children who has a dad that decided he wanted something "different."
