High School Has Mock Accident

Crews responded to a disaster at an eastern Kentucky school, but fortunately, it wasn't a real one.

It happened Tuesday morning at Letcher County Central High School.

The mock accident involved an explosion at the school and was complete with ambulances, the fire department and emergency personnel.

School officials say it was a great opportunity to make sure everyone is prepared for the real thing.

As a former teacher in Letcher county, I am very pleased to hear that the system is having emergency drills such as these. It may be worrisome to those at home, but is a wonderful source of preparedness for the staff and students.
