The Thanksgiving holiday is closing in and nurses are still on the picket line without a new contract at Appalachian Regional Healthcare.

Late Tuesday afternoon officials told WYMT the two sides had not reached a contract agreement.

On Wednesday representatives from both sides are scheduled to meet with West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in Charleston.

“There have not been any substantive breakthroughs but there have been meaningful discussions,” Rick King said.

“We're not gonna give up hope but you know we're out here as long as it takes,” Linda Campbell said.

The meeting time with Governor Manchin is is now set for 8:30 in the Wednesday morning.

Four representatives from each side are invited to that meeting, and some officials say they think the governor might act as a mediator to bring the unions and ARH closer to a solution.

The above statement is misleading. ARH did impose a new contract that was voted on by several nurses. And, the nurses who deceided to stay in and work are under that contract.

I think this has went on long enough..These nurses have once again put there family's on the back burner for the community. With out patients they would be no need for ARH I feel like we should stand behind our nurses they are standing out there for better patient care. Think about it people if your mother or child was in need of good medical care wouldnt you wont the best..when you by pass these nurses let them know they are fighting for a good cause. blow them horns. let them no you support them. and when you all sit down at dinner on Thanksgiving i wonder how many of them family's are going to have what they are use to on there table..NOW JUST HOW THANKFULL ARE WE? (TO ALL THE NURSES I AM PRAYING FOR YOU ALL.)May God Bless You and Your Family's.
