A construction accident leaves one man dead.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon near a community college campus in Bell County.

Crews recovered the body of a London Man, 32 year old Joe Shephard.

The Bell County Deputy Coroner says Shephard was working with D & H Construction out of London.

Shortly before one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, a trench he was in collapsed.

Officials say Joe Shephard was working down in the trench when mud fell in around him.

They say his fellow workers started to dig him out, but he was already dead.

Even though they knew Shephard couldn't be saved rescue crews took extra care to recover his body because they did not want anyone to get hurt.
