Clean Up Continues At The Turfland Apartments

Clean up continues at the Turfland Apartments on Garden Springs Drive. The building caught fire just before seven Tuesday morning. That apartment complex is located right behind Turfland Mall.

The fire was concentrated in Building B. Flames could be seen from miles away.

Several fire crews responded to the building, and even had to be pulled from the building at one point. Firefighters were also placed at other buildings, working to make sure that fire doesn't spread.

The apartment building was heavily damaged in the fire, with the roof completely destroyed. The damage leaves over a dozen people homeless. The Red Cross is on site supplying food, shelter and clothing to those who have lost everything.

One resident was treated for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported.

At this point, investigators say they are still looking into a cause of the fire.

Another fine job by the firefighters of lexington. Too many people think there are too few fires in lex to justify having a well staffed, well trained FD. medical calls may keep them busy, but LFD better keep hiring and training firefighters, not just medics to keep lex safe and secure.
