Lexington Doctor Pleads Not Guilty To Fraud Charges

Dr. Hamid Hussain Shiekh has practiced medicine in Lexington since 1975. He's a licensed OB/GYN who also performs abortions, but the investigations surrounding Dr. Shiekh aren't about whether he's performing these abortions, but about how he charges for them, as well as the conditions in which he does them.

We are now learning more about other allegations against Dr. Shiekh.

27 NEWSFIRST obtained complaints from patients who say the office was unfit, citing unsanitary conditions such as blood on the floor and nurses who didn't wear gloves. Other claims included lack of heat in the office, and painful procedures performed without anesthesia.

The patients filed their grievances with the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, who says it's conducting an investigation.

Today, Dr. Sheikh pleaded not guilty in court to fraud charges.

Investigators say Dr. Sheikh performed abortions and then illegally billed the state, calling the procedures ultrasounds.

In an interview with 27 NEWSFIRST, Dr. Sheikh says he did nothing wrong. He also says his Lexington clinic will remain open and he will continue to see patients until ordered otherwise.

If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

If I walked into a doctor office and found that it was not sanitary (blood of the floor, nurses not wearing gloves) that would be as far as I would have went, must less to allow him to practice any medical procedure on me ??

What happened to "innocent until proven guilty" like you read time after time about mothers charged with killing their own babies or allowing someone else to? If you think they don't steal money from the system (us) through their lengthy public defender trials, appeals, and incarceration, not to mention the welfare programs so many of them are already on...yet time and again, the "innocent till proven guilty" posts pour in on them. Is this different? How?

You're right on Anonymous & Fred! And I agree with these 'observers'.I've read many comments from Cindy from Somerset really being nasty in response to some of the post about this story. It's one thing to make a statement, but it's not cool to attack others on their beliefs.Yeah,we may all fall short of the glory of God,but we all aren't killing babies, nor suppoting it.

I posted a comment on Saturday the 1st of December and wondered if it would be posted. I have more to say about this, but obviously I don't have enough room to tell all. I feel that it is important for others to know about so they can think about it before seeing him because of how he hurts us and at the same time steals our money.

Cindy, Is this your doctor since you got out of Pee Wee? How about a list of all the things you've done wrong? Might be interesting reading.
